Me vs We

When chatting with someone do you tend to use the word “I” a lot? If you do you should probably curb that shit habit. Granted there are times to use it and talk about yourself, but use it with care. Let's take a look at two examples below and see which one sounds better:

Ex 1 - I have been trading for 10 years, I have made mistakes but I have learned from them and now I am constantly making money and you can too. I will make sure that you get better as a trader as I have seen it myself with hundreds of other traders.

Or

Ex 2 - I was in your shoes a while ago, you might have put on a few trades, however you might not have the conviction in your ideas to truly capitalize on them just yet. If you put in the effort and spend 15 minutes a day, after the first month you will be amazed at how much you have learned.

Post in the Group Chat which one you think is more beneficial, then continue reading to see if you were right.

Let's look at the numbers

Ex 1 had 2 you’s and 6 I’s which is a pretty bad 1:3 ratio

Ex 2 had 7 you’s and only 1 “I” a much better 7:1 ratio

Night and day difference. In the first example you can see that a prospect only cares about how it will help him, example 2 (if it’s not obvious) is the more effective choice. You start to remove the “I’s from your vocabulary regardless of whether it's with dating, closing or just general conversation with friends you should see improvements. Now to add some extra juice remove the I and replace it with “we”. The we’s have it, if it’s we or I, you will always look stronger as a we than as a guy running solo, if you don't believe me, let's take a look at two examples below and see which you feel is more beneficial.

In the Group Chat post which one you think is more beneficial, then continue reading to see if you were right.

Ex 1 - I went to college full time, worked 36 hours a week, ran a fraternity, traded and still went out and partied with my friends and had a blast. You have plenty of time to learn, trust me!

Ex 2 - We have members who are full time students, members who work full time and have a family who also find time to learn how to trade and learn daily. Over 98% of our members are just like you with packed daily schedules, however we tend to be able to carve out 15 minutes for tasks we feel are important. Is learning how to invest important to you?

It is pretty obvious that the prospect would be able to better relate to the 2nd example as you explained how we do it compared to the first example that comes off as bragging. Focus on using more “you’s” and “we’s” and less “I’s” and “me’s”.

Do you have balls?

Use these two statements where applicable and let's see how they worked by posting the conversation in the Value Chat!
