Big Picture Top 4

Broad Market Outlook
As we embark on a new year starting fresh with zero in our capital gains column, zero books read with a year ahead of new opportunities.
It can be a great time to reflect on the prior years improvements and lessons learned along the way.
These were my top 4 lessons.
1. Importance of Savings - the more one can save and add sources of income, the better protected we can be when the waves get rough. Being prepared enough and you can come out of disaster better then you went in. As most of us did this year.
2. Open Minded to Change - the more we can get out of your own way the better it can be as we look to beat the market, yet we are trading against our own faults and emotions. The quicker we can spot them, we can nix them off the list and get back to the task at hand.
3. Importance of Goal Setting - when we know what we are striving for, we can arrive at our point B much more efficiently while most in the crowd don't have a clue where they are headed.
4. Having a Hobby You Excel At - Most conversations often start with "hows work" when most people could care less about your work, but they don't know what else to say. I try to ask "How your hobby?" which leaves most caught off guard. To think most people work hard, then during there free time, talk about how they work hard for a company that will fire them without a second thought is sad.
For myself, I might be throwing my leg over a motorcycle, hoping on a surf board or snowboard, no matter the time of year there is a hobby that is keeping the days fresh and exciting.
We want to work hard, however there is always time to slow down and enjoy the day, if not whats the point?
